Two dozen teaching jobs to be eliminated
FAIRVIEW PARK — Between 22 and 25 teachers will face unemployment as result of $2.6 million in budget cuts approved by the Fairview Park Board of Education Feb. 21. Superintendent Brion Deitsch described the decisions to cut positions as “gut-wrenching.”

WESTLAKE — Two Westlake girls scouts from Parkside Intermediate School helped out fellow students at Cleveland's Watterson-Lake Elementary School by collecting over 400 books for that school's library.

Better late than never, River celebrates WSC crown
photoLast month, Rocky River high school's boys basketball team appeared to be unravelling. But over the next several weeks, the Pirates pulled it together. The comeback culminated in a recent 64-48 home win over Fairview that not only won the regular season WSC conference championship but also restored the team's mojo heading into the sectional tournament this week.

Familiar voices to announce Tribe games in 2006

Longtime Cleveland Indians announcers Mike Hegan, Rick Manning and John Sanders will broadcast the 130 regular season games carried by SportsTime Ohio, the new television network licensed to carry the Tribe’s games. WKYC sports director Jim Donovan will do play-by-play on the 20 games telecast on Channel 3. But whether Tribe fans will be able to watch their team on their cable or satellite systems by opening day is still an open question.
