New dispatch center begins operations next week
WESTSHORE — The long discussed regional dispatch center to handle fire and EMS calls for the Westshore suburbs becomes operational Monday. The 14 dispatchers hired to receive emergency calls were officially sworn in Thursday evening by Westlake Mayor Dennis Clough and Fairview Park Mayor Eileen Patton at a ceremony at Westlake City Hall.

Ohio Ethics Commission recommends
mayors be charged in nepotism case

WESTSHORE — The mayors of Rocky River and Westlake could face charges of improper use of a public office, a misdemeanor; or having an unlawful interest in a public contract, a felony; or both. Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason says he wants to present the case to a grand jury within a month.

City inspections of motel halted by court order
FAIRVIEW PARK — City inspectors said they found unsanitary conditions and code violations at the Cleveland Motel during a November inspection. But the owner obtained a court order prohibiting additional inspections until further notice.
