FCC ruling may help AT&T
WESTSHORE — Local officials have voiced objections to AT&T’s plans to expand new Internet and video services due to the numerous, large utility boxes the new technology requires.
But a ruling by the Federal Communications Commission last month may make efforts by local communities to regulate companies competing in the cable TV field — like AT&T — more difficult.

Fee for ambulance
transport considered

WESTLAKE — In recent years, more and more communities have instituted a fee for ambulance and paramedic services. Now Westlake, which currently does not charge, is the latest city contemplating the fee.

More athletic field upgrades approved
BAY VILLAGE — The Board of Education recently approved contracts to engineering and design firms in preparation for possible upgrades to the athletic field at Bay High School.
