Poll: Residents pleased
WESTLAKE — A recent random-sampel telephone poll of residents shows that residents are largely satisfied with the city's municipal services and political leadership. The biggest problem? Traffic.

Fire chief advocates universal fire hydrants
BAY VILLAGE — When Bay firefighters travel to Westlake to assist in fighting a fire there, they have to use adapters to fits their hoses to their fire hydrants. Bay Fire Chief Jim Sammon wants the entire county to begin phasing in the same type of hydrants to avoid such hassles.

New EKG equipment can save lives
photoWESTSHORE — Heart attack victims on the Westshore may get life-saving treatment all the sooner thanks to new electrocardiogram (EKG) equipment purchased by St. John West Shore Hospital. The equipment, which was distributed to area paramedic units, enables doctors to diagnose and treat patients more quickly.
