Training on lake keeps firefighters
ready for tough situations

BAY VILLAGE —
City firefighters recently plunged themselves through the ice and into the cold waters of Lake Erie near the Bay Boat Club as part of training to deal with potential hazardous situations.
Artificial turf for stadium?
NORTH OLMSTED —
City and school administration officials have kicked off an idea for replacing the grass field now at the North Olmsted High School stadium with artificial turf. Estimated cost for putting artificial turf at the stadium was between $700,000 and $900,000.

People cool to any possible closing of rec center rink
NORTH OLMSTED — Citizens are letting officials know they want to keep their ice rink, even though John Dailey, community services director for the city, said there are no plans to close the rink except during maintenance work this summer.

WESTLAKE — The mayor and City Council want to publicly question the school board's appraiser, which valued the undeveloped, district-owned property at $3.97 million.

Historic trusses by Cahoon Park in trouble, report says

A report says the concrete trusses of the historic abandoned interurban railway tracks over Cahoon Park are crumbling and in need of repair. “Apparently we’re either going to put some significant money into them or they’re going to come down,” Mayor Debbie Sutherland said.
