Keenan
appointed superintendent
WESTLAKE The new superintendent, who has served
for the past five years as assistant superintendent of the Kenston
Local Schools district in Geauga County, said he intends to continue
the district's reputation for excellence.
Baker
seeking Ohio House seat
WESTLAKE
The Ward 6 Councilwoman announced last week that she is seeking
the Republican nomination for the 16th District. Baker said she
will campaign for lower taxes and reforming school funding in a
way that relies less on property taxes.

still wants middle school upgrade
NORTH OLMSTED Capital improvement levies have
failed twice in the past two years. Nevertheless, school officials
are still looking for a way to improve district facilities, in particular

record set in student solar car race
WESTLAKE
As part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Junior
Solar Sprint program, about half of Parkside’s sixth-graders designed
and built solar-powered vehicles and raced them on a 20-meter course.

On Friday, junior Steve
MacDonald accomplished something no one else has done in the
history of North Olmsted boys track. He earned a medal in a field
event at the state finals.
