Action on West 215th delayed
FAIRVIEW PARK — City approval of Messiah Lutheran Church’s plan to block off about 150 feet of West 215th Street near Lorain Road has been delayed until late October at least. The city apparently did not officially notify all neighbors who would be affected by the action. Even so, several area residents spoke against the plan at a Sept. 19 meeting of the city’s Planning and Design Commission
Dubsky: Globalization changing education
NORTH OLMSTED — Teachers and students need to constantly learn new educational languages in the 21st century or face being left behind in a competitive world, North Olmsted School Superintendent Cheryl Dubsky said in her state of the schools address.

During the 50 years Walter “Marty” Harayda owned the Sunoco gas station at the corner of West 220th Street and Lorain Road, the price of gas went from a quarter to $2.74. Harayda recently sold the station to GetGo, the gas station arm of Giant Eagle.
Board of Elections blocks
advisory vote on Bradley property

WESTLAKE —
The city-backed advisory vote on rezoning 42-acres of school district land on Bradley Road has been taken off the November ballot. The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections voted 3 to 0 Monday to uphold the Westlake school board’s protest of the ballot issue.

Bulldogs tamed by Shoremen
photoAvon Lake got a great game once again from running backs Mike Haddad and Jeff Tell, who each hit the 100-yard barrier. But it was the arm of quarterback Nick Firment that got the Shoremen machine rolling against Olmsted Falls.
