Westlake fire chief suspended, demoted
photoWESTLAKE — Westlake Fire Chief Richard Pietrick has been suspended without pay for 30 days and demoted to the position of firefighter, Mayor Dennis Clough announced Friday. The suspension and demotion follow a finding by outside legal counsel that the fire chief asked city employees to make mechanical repairs to vehicles owned by Pietrick or members of his family, the mayor said in a statement.

Clough, Costanza backing four-person slate
WESTLAKE — Who’s backing who on the race to fill four school board seats is making as much news as who’s running. Mayor Dennis Clough and former Superintendent Jim Costanza have backed a four-person slate of candidates. Others are running as independent voices, saying political issues have become distractions from educating students.

A magnificent week for Magnificat
Last week its tennis team take home the state team title. Then three other teams at the all-girls Catholic school showed athletic excellence as the cross country squad won the regional title at Boardman, the volleyball team took home the district title with a win over North Royalton and the girls soccer team won a district title on Saturday.
