Barbara Eady, founder of the Cleveland Association of Black
Storytellers, shares stories and songs of the African American
heritage with visitors to the Fairview Park Library Saturday
afternoon. Eady told of the political and social struggles of
African Americans since the Civil War as well as African folk
tales. The program was scheduled in conjunction with the Martin

Council
lifts signage ban
ROCKY RIVER City Council voted to pass legislation
that will allow businesses to display temporary portable business
signs and projecting signs at its Jan. 14 meeting. The new ordinance
allows both types, with 30 consecutive day and 90 total day limitations
for temporary signage. |

215th to be blocked during school hours
Barricades to close
portion of street near Messiah Lutheran
FAIRVIEW PARK City
Council passed an ordinance Monday evening allowing a portion of West
215th Street near Messiah Lutheran School to be closed during school
hours. The ordinance temporarily solves the question of how
Messiah Lutheran students can safely cross between their existing
building and a newly renovated building scheduled to soon be put into
use. |
Advanstar
gets city’s first job grant
NORTH
OLMSTED Advanstar moved into offices in the North Olmsted Corporate
Center on Country Club Boulevard several months ago. About 130 employees
in the communications field work there.

New coach establishes team
as SWC power
Since
taking over as head coach this year, Maggie Steadley’s North Olmsted
Eagles have played solid team ball and established themselves as a
bonafide front-runner in the Southwestern Conference.

Browns
Zastidul to sponsor Super Bowl cancer benefit
Rise Above it, a non profit organization that helps young adults
battling cancer, and Cleveland Browns Dave Zastidul will host a
benefit on Super Bowl Sunday at the Blind Pig Speakeasy in Cleveland. A minimum
donation of $20 will enter you in the $1,000 grand prize drawing
to be held during halftime of the Super Bowl.
