Students given voice in district governance
ROCKY RIVER — Starting in March, those attending Rocky River City School District Board of Education meetings can expect to hear updates on what’s happening at the high school — from the students themselves.
Deitsch: District facilities much improved
photoFAIRVIEW PARK — Leaking roofs and dilapidated lcokers have been replaced at the district's high school and middle school, Superintedent Brion Deitsch reported at his annual state of the schools presentation Feb. 13. Those changes, along with the opening of the new Gilles-Sweet Elementary School in August, have led to new perceptions about the district, he noted.
City preparing ambulance fee law
BAY VILLAGE — Mayor Debbie Sutherland says the city won’t charge individual people for ambulance runs and that it has no plans to charge people who don’t have insurance.

Lindsey Lowrie, Bay’s senior sharpshooter, leads the team in scoring at 15.7 points per game. On Feb. 4 against Magnificat, she reached the plateau that all scorers dream of as she scored the 1,000th point in her career.
Indians don’t need major retooling for 2008, DiBiasio says
Don’t look for the Tribe to peddle Tribe pitching ace C.C. Sabathia off for some young prospects, team executive Bob Dibiasio says. The Indians owe it to the fans to try and win a championship in 2008, DiBiasio said. And they believe the best way to win is with Sabathia on the mound.
