Jim Wilts, president of the firefighters association, said the move is designed to give the decision to the people it affects the most — the public. But Mayor Debbie Sutherland said she thinks putting the issue on the ballot is the wrong move.
Workshop offers people foreclosure help
NORTH OLMSTED — Run by North Olmsted’s Fair Housing Review Board, the free workshop on dealing with foreclosures takes place Saturday at the North Olmsted Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
City mulls purchase of land
ROCKY RIVER — The properties under consideration for purchase by the city include the first house situated to the north of the City Hall entrance on Wagar Road as well as properties behind that house and two others.
Detroit Road study results to be presented Thursday
WESTLAKE — The recommendations of the Detroit Road Corridor Study will be presented to the public at Westlake City Hall, 27700 Hilliard Boulevard, from 4 to 7 p.m. April 24. The purpose of the open-house style meeting is to gain public input, city officials said. The Detroit Corridor Study examined alternatives for improving traffic flow and safety along Detroit Road between Bradley Road and Clague Road. Representatives from the city of Westlake and the study team will be available to answer questions.
Bay Post Office to hold Passport Fair
BAY VILLAGE — The Bay Village Post Office, located at 630 Dover Center Road, will hold a special Passport Fair April 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Passport-certified Postal Service employees will be on hand to process applications. The time needed for processing a passport is about seven weeks. For more inofmration, go to www.usps.com/passport.

Demons prevail over Falls
The first few innings of last Thursday’s Southwestern Conference battle between Westlake and Olmsted Falls weren’t the best either team could play. In fact, it looked more like a situation of who wanted to give the game away more than who wanted to win.
