League of Women Voters Candidates Forum
Oct. 23, 2008
Westlake Porter Public Library

The Cuyahoga Area League of Women Voters held a condidates forum Oct. 23 at Westlake Porter Public Library. Susan Jankite, co-chair of the Lakewood Chapter, was the moderator.

The first scheduld debate was with the candidates for District 16 of the Ohio House of Representatives. However, the Democratic incumbent, Jennifer Brady, informed the League earlier in the day that she would not be attending. The Republican candidate, Nan Baker, answered questions written by audience members. League officials, citing FCC regulations on televised debates, prohibited West Life from webcasting and videotaping that segment.

The second debate was for candidates for the 10th District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Candidates were James Trakas, Republican; Paul Conroy, Libertarian; and Dennis Kucinich, Democrat, who arrived about 25 minutes after the forum began.
