Church
to give away $10 in gas Friday
Westlake
Published July 1, 2009
Church on the
Rise, in Westlake, will conduct its third annual “Great Gas Give-Away”
starting at 3p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2009. The church will team
up for this endeavor with the Circle K store at 27190 Center Ridge
Road (at the corner of Dover Center Road) in Westlake.
While supplies
last, volunteers from the church will hand out gas gift cards, which
can be redeemed either immediately or in the future to purchase
$10 of Marathon gas or other items at the Westlake Circle K store.
During the event, the customers will also receive a voucher for
a free “Polar Pop” soft drink inside the store.
The church’s
volunteers will clean as many car windshields, back glasses and
windows as possible. They will also hand out, while supplies last,
a flower to each lady during that time period. 200 flowers will
be donated for the occasion by Church on the Rise members Bill and
Vicki Wood, owners of The Flower Port, which is located nearby on
Center Ridge Road.
Paul Grodell,
Outreach Minister at Church on the Rise, remarked, “The reaction
to last year’s ‘Great Gas Give-Away’ was so positive that we decided
to do it again. Our church’s staff and congregation are gladly donating
their time, money and effort to help provide this gift to the community.”
“We thank Circle
K for being a good corporate citizen, and we’re proud to have the
Westlake store as a member of our community,” said Church on the
Rise Senior Pastor Paul Endrei.
Paul Grodell
mentioned that the volunteers will hand out a small card with information
about the church to the gas gift card recipients, but said this
action will be very “low key.”
He explained,
“Although we would like more people to learn about Church on the
Rise as a result of the July 3rd event, our main focus during the
Great Gas Give-Away will just be to show the love of God and be
a blessing to the community through the actions of our church’s
volunteers.”
