Schools nix levy this year
BAY VILLAGE — In deciding not to take any action, district officials cited the tight economy as well as a larger than expected carryover of more than $5.8 million from the 2008-09 school year into the 2009-10 school financial year.
Soccer treasurer indicted for theft
BAY VILLAGE — Patrick Fahey, 42, is facing two felony counts of aggravated theft after being indicted by the Cuyahoga County Grand Jury June 30. Authorities allege Fahey used his position to funnel money from the club into a personal business over the course of a year.

WESTSHORE — A recent national study has named two library systems serving Westshore residents — Westlake's Porter Library and the Cuyahoga County Public Library — as the tops in their population groups.
