KB Clean guarantees fantastic carpet cleaning

KB Clean features a three-fold service standard guaranteed to residences: If the customer is not happy with the carpet cleaning, if the technician is not friendly or if the technician is late, the cleaning is free, no questions asked.

“We are building our reputation on quality workmanship, being on time to our appointments and overall being a really pleasant company to deal with,” said owner Wes Brown, who started the carpet and upholstery cleaning company in May of 2009.

The company has its warehouse in Westlake and the business is mainly mobile, said Brown, who grew up in North Olmsted and now lives in Westlake. He extends his services to the Cuyahoga and Lorain counties.

The business offers services in stain removal, carpet repair, pet odor treatment, leather cleaning and tile and grout cleaning. It cleans both residences and businesses. “I'm a little bit different than other companies,” Brown said. “With any of the chain businesses, you'll call them up, and when they come out they'll say, 'Oh, would you like to buy this?' or 'Oh, this is a really tough stain so there will be an extra charge.' You end up paying a lot more. We have three different packages. In any one of the packages you will get a fantastic clean without a price increase.”

In the mid-level package, KB Clean will bring fans into the home to help dry the carpet and will deodorize the carpet. In the top-level package, Brown will guarantee Scotchguard and give the customer a bottle of the cleaning product. If it doesn't work, KB Clean will come back out free for the next 12 months to clean the stain.

KB Clean has an eight-step system to cleaning a carpet. Brown vacuums the carpet first, which is something other companies don't do, he said. Then he sprays a detergent, which is what cleans the carpet. The dirt and grime is suspended into the solution so it can be extracted. After the detergent, Brown rakes and agitates the carpet, then extracts the dirt with steam cleaning. He then grooms the carpet in one direction so that it will dry evenly. He ends by completing a spot check of his work before he leaves.

What sets KB Clean apart from other carpet cleaners is the special quality and attention that a lot of companies are lacking these days, Brown said.

“A lot of larger companies might do a fantastic job one time, but the next time you might get a new technician and won't get a fantastic job,” he said. “Right now it's just myself, but when I hire employees, I'm still going to be offering the three-way guarantee. The technician that comes to a customer's house will be friendly, responsible and take care of the homeowner.”

Brown recommends cleaning residential carpets once every 12 months. However, if customers smoke or have kids or pets, they should get it done sooner.

“Carpet filters dust and debris out of the air,” Brown said. “Even if a carpet doesn't look dirty, it still needs to be cleaned because it's been filling up with chemicals. A clean carpet presents a healthier home environment. If a carpet is filled up, all the dust and debris is filtered back up into air.”
