ASAP
Fitness offers personalized training
for a healthier lifestyle

When most people
see ASAP, they think “as soon as possible.” However, for ASAP Fitness,
the familiar acronym has a different meaning: Accelerated Sports
and Athletic Performance.
“Fitness is
a lifestyle, not as soon as possible,” said Mark Tolson, owner of
the Rocky River business, which opened about a year ago. “It’s not
about quantity; it’s about quality. It’s about being smart with
nutrition and being active.”
What sets ASAP
Fitness apart from other fitness centers is its personal touch,
Tolson said. The studio has clients ranging in age from 12 to 85.
“We develop
a personal program that’s tailored to the person’s goals,” he said.
“We really try to educate our clients to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
And we want them to maintain what they’ve achieved.”
For example,
Tolson and the ASAP Fitness staff provide phone and text message
coaching a few times a week to give clients encouragement.
“If we look
at your food journal and see you’re heading to the vending machine
around 2:30 p.m. every day, I might send you a text message around
that time that says, ‘Remember to stay away from that vending machine!
Did you bring your apple today?’ People really like that.”
During a free,
no-obligation consultation, clients receive a complete health and
fitness evaluation. This includes a review of health and fitness
history, fitness assessments, electronic body fat testing and nutritional
information. Clients receive a food journal to document food choices
so Tolson can review the content and tailor a nutritional plan specific
to that person.
“During the
first consultation, we’ll give you basic info that will help you
be successful long-term,” Tolson said. “We guarantee that you can
take something positive from the consultation. And our clients take
that information and use it to educate others. It’s very gratifying.”

ASAP Fitness
is a non-membership based facility, meaning there are no monthly
membership fees in addition to training sessions. The business offers
different package options to fit clients’ schedules and budgets.
Once clients
choose a package, they may come into the facility at any time outside
their one-hour training to use the cardio equipment. They also receive
bottled water, towel service and heart monitors for use at the studio.
“We provide
functional training. We show you movement patterns for everyday
living,” said Jacquie Tolson, Mark’s wife and a certified personal
trainer and beauty therapist. “We show you the proper way to use
the equipment and the proper form and technique. The personalized
nature makes people feel more comfortable.
ASAP Fitness
has three certified trainers besides Mark and Jacquie.
“We strive to
be safe, efficient and effective,” Mark said. “Those are our three
goals.”
The Tolsons
chose the Rocky River location because they were familiar with the
community and thought it would be supportive of a personal training
facility, Mark said.
“We’ve become
members of the Rocky River Chamber of Commerce and want to be involved
in the local community,” he said. “The location is also convenient
to the highway. People can stop by if they’re coming home from work.”
ASAP Fitness
is offering a special in which a new client will receive a free
training session. Also, if a new client commits to a package on
the day of his or her consultation, he or she will receive a free
one-hour massage from Bay Shore Massage in Bay Village.
