Deerfield
Roofing makes customer service a priority
Published March 10, 2010
The crew of
Deerfield Roofing sees its jobs through with great care and detail,
longtime employee Joe Egnor said. Egnor, a Cleveland resident, has
worked for the company for more than 20 years and oversees everything
from installation to job performance.
“We take care
of the customer,” he said. “We try to take care of them until the
very end of the job. We don’t take on too many jobs at once so we
can devote our time to a job. We’re there until the job’s done.
That way we do everything right.”
Deerfield Roofing,
located at 2944 Whispering Shores Drive in Vermilion, provides all-phase
roofing, siding and gutters and does complete tear-offs. No job
is too big or too small for the company, which has been in business
for about 24 years, Egnor said.
The company
does a lot of its business in the Westshore area, but it travels
all over, including to neighboring states. It does both residential
and commercial roofing.
“There’s no
range on our work,” Egnor said. “We go where the work is.”
Also, Deerfield
Roofing provides free estimates and will come to the customer’s
house to meet with them.
“Usually, we
try to get there within 24 hours – the same day or the following
day,” Egnor said. “Sometimes we talk to people and they say other
companies told them they would have to wait a week and a half. We
don’t do that.”

Deerfield Roofing
also works year-round.
“Some people
can’t wait until the spring,” Egnor said. “We definitely slow down
in the winter, but we still do jobs.”
Egnor has been
roofing for about 26 years, he said. Many members of his family
were roofers.
“On my first
job, they told me to make sure I wore boots,” he laughingly recalled.
“I showed up in cowboy boots.”
Since that first
experience, Egnor has learned how to make a business a success.
“Every job that
I do has got to be what I would do in my own home,” he said. “I’m
not there trying to sell people something they don’t need, and I’m
not trying to price gouge them.”
One of the compliments
he often gets from customers is the clean up the crew does before
it leaves.
“People have
told us their yards look better after we leave than before we started,”
he said. “We leave everything perfect. It’s all about customer satisfaction
– if a customer isn’t happy, I’m not happy.”
Egnor also prides
himself on the cleanliness of his crew.
“I bring a respectable
crew,” he said. “We are well-dressed. Now, roofers can only be so
clean, but we pride ourselves on our appearance and our professionalism.
We don’t have blaring radios, and we’re not screaming at each other.
We make it as pleasant as possible when we’re at a customer’s house.
