City hosts meeting for Lake Road Project
ROCKY RIVER — Although construction of the Lake Road Corridor Enhancement Project will begin in July, Rocky River Mayor Pam Bobst said the administration wanted to open communication with residents and business owners as soon as possible to identify issues that may need to be addressed.
Hospital’s ER chief to begin tour of duty in Afghanistan
WESTLAKE —
Hospital leaders and dozens of his colleagues wished Dr. Roy Seitz Godspeed on his upcoming tour of duty during a reception Friday in the cafeteria of St. John Medical Center. Seitz said he’s actually pleased that his new assignmentin Afghanistan, unlike his service four years ago in Kuwait, will be in a combat zone.
North Olmsted man pleads guilty in child porn case
NORTH OLMSTED — Kevin Jakupca, 21, of North Olmsted, will go before Judge Brendan Sheehan as a result of pleading guilty to 25 counts of pandering sexually oriented matter, a second-degree felony, and one count of possessing criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony.

Streaks pull together to win state indoor crown
The Blue Streaks took 11 athletes to last Saturday’s State Indoor Track and Field Championships at the University of Akron. All 11 of them contributed in a big way as Magnificat scored 53 points and came away with the team championship.

Tread carefully and don’t step on spring
Don't tread heavily on the flower beds, advises gardening columnist Thea Steinmetz. It is a bad idea to disturb whatever lies below the ground, as the environment is still a bit fragile. At the present, the soil is much too wet to be able to do any gardening.
