Forum hits right chord with east and west
BAY VILLAGE — About 70 people attended a mayoral forum with Bay Village Mayor Debbie Sutherland and East Cleveland Mayor Gary Norton Jr. Sunday at Bethesda-by-the-Bay Church. Regionalism and its potential effects on not only the cities, but the entire Northern Ohio area, came up several different times in discussion about development, education and the new county government.

Police increase presence at meetings, City Hall
NORTH OLMSTED — City Council meetings will have an armed police officer at them and City Hall will have more officers around for the foreseeable future. The move comes after a North Olmsted resident, Matthew Fairfield, 30, was indicted on allegations he stored explosives at a friend’s Cleveland home and his Louis Drive home. Fairfield had recently attended several council meetings.
O’Malley to enter guilty plea in county corruption case
photoWESTLAKE — The last person to challenge Dennis Clough for his job as mayor is expected to enter a guilty plea on federal charges of lying to investigators. According to federal prosecutors pursuing the county corruption case, Joe O’Malley, who lost the 2005 race for Westlake mayor, made false statements to FBI officials and failed to report a felony.
