Levy supporters cook up support
NORTH OLMSTED — Officials estimated more than 900 people showed up Wednesday in North Olmsted Park for a rally supporting the proposed 7.9-mill levy on the ballot. They were served a menu of hot dogs and assorted munchies and desserts before parents, students and staff from individual schools expressed their enthusiasm through group cheers and activities.

BAY VILLAGE — Superintendent Clint Keener said it is true that teacher’s salaries do increase when they reach another hurdle of seniority but teachers who are at the top or in between steps will not see a pay increase this year. He also said that all of the bargaining agreements are expiring at the end of the year and he couldn’t predict what would happen.

Bay Village Police Station lawsuit settled after five years
BAY VILLAEG — City Council Monday approved a settlement agreement in which Bay Village received about $527,000 from the insurance companies for the architectural and engineering firms involved in the project. City officials said the funds would be applied to the remaining debt on the station.
Available garden plots dwindling
FAIRVIEW PARK — If you would like a plot in Fairview Park’s community garden, organizer Amy Brennan suggests you act fast. Because gardeners have had problems with deer eating their vegetables, participants are planning to invest in a deer fence, which will limit future expansion.

Drunken man holds up building, more police reports
FAIRVIEW PARK — Police received a report Sept. 26 that a man had fallen in the parking lot of Westgate shopping center. Responding officers said they encountered a 29-year-old Brook Park man leaning against a wall. The man reportedly said he was trying to keep the building from falling.
He was cited for public intoxication and turned over to his father, police said.

Brick, Demons roll past Eagles, 21-7
From start to finish, junior tailback Jonathan Brick hit hole after hole that his line and senior fullback Amir Odetallah opened for him. When it was all said and done, he had run the ball 42 times for 246 yards and three touchdowns as Westlake prevailed, 21-7.
