Keep clear

A 26-year-old North Olmsted man was arrested May 21 for driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and not keeping an assured clear distance after his car hit an SUV in front of it at 10:20 p.m. olice said. No injuries were reported.

Stove stolen

A Puth Drive man said May 24 someone broke into his garage the previous week and took a pot belly stove.


Not the place

Police are searching for a man who defecated on the front porch of the Folger House on Lake Road the night of May 12. Police are checking security video and got information on a car the man was likely driving.

Ring stolen

An Aquamarine Boulevard woman said a ring was stolen from her home between sometime in March and May 23, when she discovered the theft.


Overdose suspected

A 44-year-old Bay Village man was treated at UH St. John Medical Center for a possible overdose after police and paramedics investigated at 12:35 a.m. May 20 report of an unresponsive man behind the steering wheel of a car parked in the 27000 block of Lake Road. The man is facing a charge of operating a vehicle under the influence pending test results, police said.

Smashed up

A construction truck parked at the Bay Village Boat Club on Cahoon Road had $3,000 damage after it was found May 22 with smashed windows, jammed control levers and sand poured in the gas tank.

Laptop taken

A Kenilworth Road woman reported May 22 a laptop missing from her home. She said she had last used it a few days before.


Cars keyed

Two residents of the Fairview Village Apartments found the passenger side of their cars keyed May 20. One found the damage at 10:45 a.m. after the car had been parked there 15 minutes while she went inside, she said. The other said the incident took place between May 17 and May 20.

Out of control

A 29-year-old Fairview Park man was cited for disorderly conduct while intoxicated after police and paramedics checked a report on the morning of May 21 of a man passed out in the grass in front of his home in the 4100 block of West 226th Street. They noted a gas smell, with the meter showing a potential leak, prompting them to turn the gas off, call the utility and have the man checked at Fairview Hospital because he was acting unusual. However, the man also smelled of alcohol, was abusive and getting out of control while being taken to the hospital, so he was cited, officers said. Police said the man called the department four times after he was released, complaining about being taken to the hospital.

Purse, duffel stolen

A purse and small duffel bag were stolen from a car parked in front of Marshall’s May 23, The woman said she had seen them earlier, when she walked her dog around the car because the dog had been ill. Then she went shopping, returned at 7:30 p.m. and realized the items were missing when she started to drive home.

Line issues

Police are considering assault charges after a 58-year-old Cleveland man struck a 47-year-old Fairview Park man who was carrying drinks back to his car May 24 at the Circle K on Lorain Road. Police said the two had argued earlier when the Fairview man was in line with the drinks and said the other man cut in front of him, prompting the exchange. The Cleveland man told police he thought the Fairview man was going to attack him, so he hit him. A witness told police the Cleveland man hit the Fairview man “out of the blue” and knocked the drinks out of the man’s hands.


A 52-year-old Lakewood man was arrested May 18 for disorderly conduct while intoxicated and having an open container after police investigated reports of a man getting out of control in the 14100 block of Detroit Avenue.

Driving erratically prompts arrest

A 39-year-old Cleveland man was arrested May 19 for driving under the influence after police stopped his car in the 11700 block of Clifton Boulevard at 3 a.m. for being driven erratically, they said.


Household goods stolen

A 19-year-old Cleveland woman was arrested May 16 for theft after Walmart store security said she took $130 in assorted household goods and food.


Home break-in

Several construction tools were taken from a home under construction on Winfield Lane after someone broke in between May 9 and 21, workers said.

Passed out

A 65-year-old North Ridgeville woman was arrested May 24 for not having control of her car and having an open container after police investigated a 1:18 p.m. report of a woman passed out behind the wheel of a car parked on Spencer Lane.

Erratic driving leads to arrest

A 33-year-old North Ridgeville man was arrested May 25 for drunk driving after police investigated a report of a car being driven erratically on Center Ridge Road.


Bad words

The morning of May 18, a River Oaks Drive man found someone had keyed profanities on the hood of his car while it was parked near his home.

Dog bite

A woman got minor injuries on her hand and her dog minor injuries on its neck at 11 a.m. May 20 after another dog got off its leash, ran across the road and bit them. The woman declined to prosecute, police said. The attacking dog was up to date on its shots and its owner was informed of the proper quarantine procedure.

Party is over

Two 18-year-old Rocky River men were cited for underage drinking and an 18-year-old Rocky River woman was cited for violating the keg law after police investigated a 1:15 a.m. May 24 complaint about loud music and a party on Shoreland Avenue.


Attempted theft

A 34-year-old Lorain woman was arrested for theft May 23 after Discount Drug Mart workers said she tried to take assorted household items by hiding them in her clothing.


Wallet taken

Police were looking for a man who apparently took another man’s wallet after the victim dropped it on the ground at 2 p.m. May 14 at the GetGo gas station at Columbia and Center Ridge roads. The victim noticed his wallet was missing a few minutes later and returned to the store. Police said security video showed a white haired, unshaven older man wearing a Carhart shirt and tan pants picked up the wallet and left in a sky blue Chevrolet Custom Double Cab Silverado with a Joe Firment license plate holder on the front of the car.

Wanted duo arrested

A 31-year-old Eastlake man wanted by the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department and a 35-year-old Geneva woman wanted by the Lake County Sheriff’s Department were arrested after police stopped the car the woman was driving at 11 a.m. May 22 for a traffic violation leaving the Red Roof Inn, police said. A search of the car and the room they were in uncovered a loaded handgun in the car, ammunition, drug paraphernalia and suspected narcotics in the room. The man was arrested for felony probation violation and the woman was arrested for dangerous-drug offenses.

Tools taken

Several thousand dollars in tools were taken after two people broke the windows on two work vans parked at The Cleveland Clinic building on Columbia Road overnight May 26. The thefts were discovered at 6:40 a.m. Security video showed the suspects as a man wearing a dark sweatshirt with black pants that had white stripes down the leg and a woman wearing an olive green shirt and blue jeans, police said. They left in a black Ford Taurus with chrome vents on the front.

Boy found

A 3-year-old boy who wandered away from his family while they were staying at the DoubleTree hotel on Crocker Road was found unharmed sleeping by the pool at 8:20 p.m. May 27 after police, firefighters and staff looked for him for 50 minutes.
