Earth Day is an annual event celebrated around the world on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, it now includes events coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network in more than 193 countries.
Earth Day was created to celebrate the planet’s environment and raise public awareness about pollution, climate change and sustainability. April 22, 2020 will mark 50 years of Earth Day.
On Wednesday, April 22nd, Unity Spiritual Center Westlake will celebrate Earth Day from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Special events are planned to include sharing of information by environmental groups and discussing issues pertinent to the Earth Day movement. A labyrinth walk will start at 6:00 p.m. on Unity’s labyrinth which is the largest in Ohio. An Earth Day concert with music, storytelling and video sharing will start at 7:00 p.m. Earth Day friendly food will be available for purchase. There will even be earth-friendly games for children to help them understand the importance of the day.
This exciting and unique event is open to all friends, neighbors, members and guests. Goodwill offerings will be appreciated but are not required.
