Avon City Council members passed an ordinance Monday night establishing the compensation of the construction project manager for the I-90 interchange project.

At the Aug. 1 City Council work session, Avon Mayor Jim Smith said after conducting interviews, Don Damyanic was chosen to serve as the project manager.

Damyanic was the project manager for Terrace Construction when they worked on the French Creek Recreation Complex infrastructure.

As part of the position, Smith said Damyanic will serve as a “go between from ODOT (Ohio Department of Transportation), the contractor (Mosser Construction Inc.) and the city.

“Even ODOT suggested it,” Smith said of hiring a project manager.

Damyanic will be considered a city employee for the duration of the project, Smith said. He will be paid $80,000 each year plus benefits.

“It behooves us to have somebody out there,” Smith said.
