Avon Lake

The Avon Lake Police Department recommends charges of arson against a 16-year-old Avon Lake teen for setting fires in the Lake House restroom.

Lt. Duane Streator said the two fires, in March and April, were solved by investigating an unrelated fire in a Dumpster by Erieview Elementary School in May. The juvenile responsible for the Dumpster fire gave police information that led to them to the ones responsible for the fires at the Lake House.

“We are now going to certify a juvenile to juvenile court on two charges of arson for those two fires,” Streator said.

The department is considering also recommending charges of complicity against two other juveniles who were there at the time.

The two fires, which both occurred at about 7 p.m. March 19 and April, caused about $800 in damage for the city to repair.

The teen set fire to the toilet paper, the garbage and one of the dividers in the restroom.
