Barred Owl

This wise old Barred Owl is heavily camouflaged, but photographer Nadine Forthofer Bluemel was able to snap his picture as he blinks his way sleepily into Spring. The Barred Owl, also known as the northern barred owl, striped owl or, more informally, hoot owl, is a North American large species of owl. Barred Owls live year-round in mixed forests of large trees, often near water.
