The new director of the Lorain County 911 is Sheffield Fire Chief Jeff Young, who started the job Oct. 18.
Lorain County Commissioners appointed Young, 57, on Oct. 6 to oversee day-to-day operations of the 911 department that provides timely emergency services countywide.
Young left Sheffield Village after over two decades in the fire department. He replaces Harry Williamson, who had been hired in January but was fired Aug. 3.
After he was fired, reports surfaced of an extramarital affair between Commissioner Michelle Hung and Williamson. Video of Hung and Williamson kissing inside the county government building surfaced. Their relationship set off a continuing, highly public controversy.
Commissioner David Moore repeatedly has called for Hung’s resignation. Hung has repeatedly insisted she will remain in office.
Young did not return calls for comment. He will be paid about $77,000 yearly in his new position.
