This architectural rendering shows what the under-construction, $500,000 home — to be awarded on June 17 — will look like. Tickets are expected to sell out very quickly on Thursday.

Ready … get set … wake up SUPER EARLY Thursday if you want to have a chance of even buying a ticket, available starting at 6 a.m., for the 2020 St. Jude Dream Home being built this year in Olmsted Falls.

In 2019, 20,000 raffle tickets for the St. Jude Dream Home in Avon Lake sold out in 62 minutes, raising $2 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The $100 tickets routinely sell out before many people are even out of bed. Why? Because the homes are brand new, have high-end finishes and furnishings and are usually valued around a half-million dollars. And the sales benefit St. Jude, which conducts research and provides free care for children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

Last year, the Avon Lake home was valued around $600,000. In 2018, the Rocky River house was valued at between $600,000 and $700,000. This year, the four-bedroom, 3,000-square-foot house on Falls Glen Road is valued at $500,000. It is one of 40 homes being built nationwide to benefit St. Jude.

The drawing for the house and other prizes will be televised on WJW Fox 8 on June 17. Other prizes include: a $10,000 shopping spree at Fish Furniture; an Artesian Miami Elite or Fiji Elite Hot Tub; a 2020 Buick Encore or 2020 Ford EcoSport; a $1,000 Amazon gift card courtesy of The Young Team; a custom-made St. Jude Thaddeus statue courtesy of Milano Monuments; a $1,500 Conrad’s Tire Express and Total Car Care gift certificate; a $2,500 Panera Bread Prize Pack; $1,500 Mastercard or VISA gift card, courtesy of Apex Dermatology; and a $1,500 Mastercard of VISA gift card, courtesy of Smiles by White.

Tickets may be purchased at www.dreamhome.org starting at 6 a.m. Thursday. There is a limit of 50 tickets per transaction. The cost of the ticket(s) is not tax-deductible.

Ground was broken for the Olmsted Falls house in November by Cleveland Custom Homes. This is the fifth dream house designed and built by the company, which donates its time and all the materials. In addition to the four bedrooms, the house has three and a half baths. The design is “Modern French Country,” and will feature an open floor plan and a two-sided fireplace separating the kitchen and dining area from the living room. The master suite will have a walk-in closet, master bath with separate vanities, a walk-in shower and a tub.

There will also be a covered front porch and rear patio.

Once the home is completed, free open house tours will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays, and noon-5 p.m. Sundays from May 16 to June 14.
