Heavy winds gusting up to 61 mph on Sunday brought down trees and knocked out power to some 20,000 FirstEnergy customers in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties for several hours. Lakewood was one of the hardest hit cities, with 6,743 reports of no power. Fallen debris and trees blocked streets, including the westbound lanes of Hilliard Boulevard near Settlers Reserve Way and Berringer Run in Westlake. “We had some limbs down due to the storm and a few outages, but there was minimal damage overall,” said Safety Service Director Rich Snyder in Rocky River.
