Curbside Crafters

Beginning crafters for children ages 2-4 and experienced crafters for children ages 5-8 will be held all day Monday. The library has bags of craft supplies that you can pick up through its curbside service. Request crafts when you arrive at the library by calling the curbside desk at 440-933-8128.

Virtual family story time

Family story time is going virtual on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. this summer via YouTube. Each week, join a different staff member to hear a couple of stories, do some fingerplays and see the fish. New videos will be posed each Tuesday at 11 a.m.

Tree House Club

DiscoveryWorks Tree House Club for ages 8-11 will be held at 1 p.m. July 8 via Zoom. Use water to construct a simple device that measures temperature.

Summer reading

“Read 20 in 2020,” the summer reading challenge, runs through Aug. 31. The program is available for all ages and allows readers to set their own monthly summer reading goals. Participants can choose to: Read or listen to 20 books each month; Read or listen to 20 hours each month; or Read or listen to 20 minutes per day for 20 days each month. When participants reach these goals, success can be logged from home using the forms you can download or by calling the library (Children, 440-933-8917; adults & teens, 440-933-8127). Those who log completed goals will be awarded prizes through curbside services or entered into a prize drawing. Prize selections are found within the forms.

Cuyahoga County Library System including: Bay Village Branch Library, 502 Cahoon Road, 440-871-6392; Fairview Park Branch Library, 21255 Lorain Road, 440-333-4700; and North Olmsted Branch Library, 27403 Lorain Road, 440-777-6211; will reopen to the public on Monday. The library strongly recommends that all customers wear masks when visiting. If a customer needs help on the computer or with any task that requires a staff person to come within 6 feet, a mask will be required. The library will provide a mask if one is needed. The first hour of each day, 9-10 a.m. Monday through Saturday, will be designated for vulnerable, high-risk customers. Curbside/drive-through service at all branches will continue even after the buildings reopen.

RRPS Green Team, a children’s event, will be held online at 4 p.m. today. Imagine a better world and work toward it by learning ways to create a healthy environment, upcycling T-shirts to reduce pollution and educate the community. Register at rrpl.org.


“Kindergarten, Here I Come @ Home” will be held online all day Thursday. Register to receive weekly emails from Ms. Amanda with stories, songs, rhymes and activities designed to strengthen key skills for school success.

Minecrafters @ Home

Minecrafters @ Home will be held online at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Play mini-games on the library’s Minecraft Realm server. Minecraft Java Edition is required.

Fairytale Scavenger Hunt

Fairytale Scavenger Hunt, a weeklong event for all ages, will be held Monday through July 11. Come to the library grounds and find the hidden fairytale characters. No registration required.

Virtual Baby & Me

Virtual Baby & Me will be held all day Monday. Register to receive a weekly video from Mrs. Fisher with fun songs, stories and rhymes for you and your baby to enjoy at home.

Tech tips

“Ten Minute Tech Tips: What are Some Facebook Tips and Tricks?” will be presented online at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Join weekly at livestream.com/rrpl for 10-minute tech tips.

Princeton review

The Princeton Review SAT strategy session, a teen event, will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday. Registration is required at princetonreview.com/product/offerings/463903. This virtual seminar will give you everything you need to know about the SAT.

Horror Film Club

The Horror Film Club returns for online viewing at 6:30 p.m. today. This month’s creepy classic, “The Last Man on Earth,” stars Vincent Price as Robert Morgan, a lone survivor of a pandemic that turns everyone into vampires. The film club will meet using the video sharing site Watch2Gether. To participate, visit Https://bitly/2zaS36Z as early as 6 p.m. on the day of the program. There will be a link to take you to the site. You do not need an account with Watch2Gether to participate.

Teen crafts

Teen crafts will be held from 9 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Thursday. Stop by Youth Services to pick up your teen craft kit anytime Thursday, while supplies last.

Red Cross Bloodmobile

The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at the library in the Porter Room from 1-7 p.m. Thursday. Give the gift of life.

Egg drop

Kindergartners through sixth-graders are invited to celebrate engineering during STEAM week with your design for the annual egg drop. Pick up an egg drop kit (minus the raw egg) at the Youth Services Desk starting Wednesday (all day). All egg drop contraptions must be returned to the Youth Services Department by 4:30 p.m. July 12. Join the group on Facebook at 11 a.m. July 16 for the official egg drop.

Sing and dance

Join Miss Nancy on Zoom for “Let’s Sing and Dance” at 11 a.m. July 8. Participants must provide an email address to receive Zoom instructions, which will be sent the day of the program.

Preschool Storytime

Preschool Storytime will be held live on Zoom at 1 p.m. July 8. Registration opens today at 9 a.m. Participants must provide an email address to receive Zoom instructions.

Avon Branch Library, 37485 Harvest Ave., Avon, 440-934-4743; Domonkas Branch Library 4152 Lake Road, Sheffield Lake, 440-949-7410; and North Ridgeville Branch Library 35700 Bainbridge Road, North Ridgeville, 440-327-8326. These branch locations are now open with temporary hours from 1-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with an additional timeslot of noon-1 p.m. Monday through Saturday specifically for seniors and those immune compromised. Everyone will be required to wear a mask/face covering over both their mouth and nose for the duration inside the library. Contactless hold pickup will be available inside each branch as well. In-person programs and book saves have been postponed.
