AVON — Bowling is the main attraction at Main Event, a 50,000-square-foot entertainment complex opening Tuesday at 35605 Chester Road. This is the first Northeast Ohio location for the Dallas-based entertainment company, second in Ohio (there’s one outside Cincinnati) and 41st nationally.
The bowling-anchored entertainment and dining concept, which uses “Eat. Bowl. Play.” as its tagline, will also offer video games, laser tag, billiards, shuffleboard, a zip line and gravity ropes, as well as food, beverages and a meeting space.
When asked what makes Main Event different from other West Shore indoor entertainment complexes, Corey Will, Main Event Entertainment’s director of marketing, said, “The biggest difference is that Main Event Entertainment offers multiple activities, along with chef-inspired food and drinks that you would not expect to find in a typical bowling alley or similar entertainment center.” He said guests generally come and enjoy two to three activities per visit.
The complex opens at 2 p.m. Tuesday, but before the official grand opening, Main Event will hold a VIP Open House, where the management team will present a check for $2,500 to the local Prayers From Maria Children’s Glioma Cancer Foundation.
“Main Event Entertainment is very heavily involved in every community that we operate in,” Will said.
Main Event is also family focused.
“Young families with children make up a huge portion of our customer base,” Will said. “Kids’ birthday parties are a huge part of our business. We also have a full bar and area to watch sports, hang with your friends, have a little friendly competition or just relax after a long day at work. The bar area is somewhat separated from the games and allows adults a place to have fun themselves.”
Will said his favorite activities are bowling and shuffleboard, and his go-to menu items are the sweet red chili wings, the new pretzel dippers and the bacon cheddar burger.
Main Event Entertainment purchased the Chester Road property and built the facility, but management chose not to disclose financial information for the 41st store.
The Avon Main Event will employ about 220 full- and part-time workers, including a seven-member management team and in-house technical services chief.
