Westlake Concord Reserve

Concord Reserve, Westlake’s leading senior community, received a proclamation from Mayor Dennis M. Clough celebrating National Skilled Nursing Care Week and recognizing the hard-working associates at Concord Reserve. Executive director Bruce McNabb accepted the proclamation on behalf of the community May 13.

Avon-Avon Lake Republican Club

The Avon-Avon Lake Republican Club will meet June 10 at the Red Tail Golf Club, 4400 Lear Nagle Road, Avon. Nick Cocca, Great Lakes regional manager, Turning Point USA, will be available at the 5 p.m. social hour. His talk is oriented towards younger constituents and will focus on their concerns. The meeting will start at 6 p.m. The meeting is free to members and free to those accompanying someone who is 22 or younger. It is $5 for other guests. Doors open at 5 p.m. with a cash bar.

Fairview Park Garden Club

The Fairview Park Garden Club is seeking nominations of beautiful gardens for its 2021 Showcase Garden Award. The club would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication that Fairview Park residents put into developing their property. Trash and Treasures Sale

The Summer Farmers Market and the Trash and Treasures Sale at Frostville Museum, 24101 Cedar Point Road, North Olmsted, will be held every Saturday in June from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. (9-9:30 a.m. for seniors and immune-compromised people). Fully vaccinated people are not required to wear masks or social distance. Unvaccinated people are recommended to wear masks. The market will feature local farmers, seasonal produce, free-range meats, pastries, eggs, honey, maple syrup tea and coffee, artisan breads and more. Lorain County genealogical society

The meeting of the Ohio Genealogical Society – Lorain County Chapter will be held online at 7 p.m. June 14. The presentation by Kelli Bergheimer is titled “Gerry’s Journey using DNA to Find Her Birth Father – A Case Study.” Those interested in joining the program should email meetings@loraincoogs.org to be added to the invitation list. The group is using the BlueJeans video conferencing platform that generally does not require you to download anything.

Fairview Park art contest

Fairview Park is holding a citywide artwork contest for residents to capture what recycling means to them to possibly be featured in its 2022 Recycling Calendar. Residents should show how they repurpose objects, reduce waste or recycle.

Any type of art medium can be used such as photography, markers, pencils or computer graphics. The calendar is funded through the 2021 Community Recycling Awareness Grant from Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District. Scanned artwork or photographs of the projects can be submitted to Monica.Jordan@fairviewpark.org. Submissions are due by 4 p.m. Friday.
