The school board recognized North Ridgeville High School junior Mason MacDonald for his Eagle Scout project at the February school board meeting. Mason, who serves with troop 153, built a toy storage system out of plywood and donated it to the Fields Sweet preschool students. In order to attain the Eagle Scout rank, he needed to find a service project which requires he shows leadership. The project took two weekends. Preschool intervention specialist Sheryl Munson said the preschool needed storage that could be out of view during lessons to provide less distractions. “The storage bin allows students to select activities that motivate them to actively participate in their learning,” Munson said. “We are grateful that Mason shared his skills.” Mason said he had a lot of fun working on the project and is glad it’s going to be used everyday. It will be some time before Mason knows if he will indeed receive his badge.
