To the Editor:

This is a great time to be living in North Ridgeville. Two hundred years ago, a group of pioneers from Waterbury, Conn., made its way to Ohio and settled in the very place we now call home. This year we celebrate that historic event.

Banners and 15-star flags fly high along the city’s main streets, showing everyone – people who reside here and travelers passing through – the pride we feel in our town.

Our official bicentennial date is May 10 and the kickoff is May 8, when everyone can enjoy a free Founder’s Day breakfast at the Senior Center and await the arrival of the early settlers, portrayed by re-enactors.

Throughout the coming weeks, there will be other events to mark the special anniversary. The North Ridgeville Historical Society will have mementos available for purchase as keepsakes of May 10, 2010 – North Ridgeville’s 200th birthday.
