Shepard sworn in as Fairview police chief

A member of Fairview Park’s police department since 1996, Paul Shepard, left, was sworn in as the city’s new police chief Oct. 5 by Mayor Patrick Cooney. Shepard had served as a lieutenant for the past seven years under former chief Erich Upperman, who retired in early October after a 36-year law enforcement career. Shepard has held numerous roles throughout his tenure in Fairview Park, serving as a patrol officer for 15 years before being promoted to sergeant in 2011.
