The Avon 12U all-star baseball team picked up two wins in the Little League playoffs last week. Avon followed up a 17-3 victory over Elyria North July 7 with a 6-2 win over Cuyahoga Falls South Saturday. The wins helped Avon advance to play Cuyahoga Falls North in the winner’s bracket Monday.

Avon pitchers Matt Kelly and Tommy Kocar held Elyria North to three runs.  Zach Hubbard led the team in hitting, going 4-for-4 with three singles and a double. Jacob Lozinski hit a solo home run in the third. His home run was followed up with a team rally in the fourth, which scored an additional nine runs.

Kocar and Mitch Botson consecutively relieved starting pitcher Jeff Spencer in the win over Cuyahoga Falls South. Kocar and Botson held Falls to just three hits. Spencer went 2-for-3 at the plate. Hubbard went 2-for-4. Lozinski homered with two on base in the fifth.
