At least for one day, high school girls soccer teams from around the state flocked to Strongsville to compete and take part in clinics for the Adidas National Soccer Showcase. The three-day event was scheduled to take place July 16-18 at a number of sites, including Strongsville High School, Strongsville Middle School, the Ehrnfelt Soccer Complex, Darice Fields and Buckeye Fields. The showcase was designed to bring together teams from different leagues, conferences, states and regions across the U.S. to encourage team development and enable competition amongst a wide variety of teams. Locally, the Westlake, North Olmsted, Avon Lake and Bay programs registered to participate. Games were played on July 16, but an abundance of rainfall led to cancellations over the weekend.
