Reckless driving prompts drunk-driving arrest
A 28-year-old Sheffield Lake man was arrested Aug. 23 for drunk driving after police checked a 6:53 p.m. call about an eastbound car driving recklessly on Interstate 90.
A 44-year-old Lakewood man was arrested Aug. 24 for drunk driving after police got a call at 5:10 p.m about a truck weaving across westbound lanes on Interstate 90. The driver was arrested after failing field sobriety tests.
Cell phone stolen
A 14-year-old Avon Lake boy said Aug. 19 his cell phone was taken from Bleser Park on Avon-Belden Road sometime Aug. 18, when he was at the park.
Domestic violence arrest
A 39-year-old Avon Lake man was arrested Aug. 21 for domestic violence after police received reports of a fight at Village on the Green Apartments. A woman in the apartment was treated at the scene for injuries, police said.
Traffic stop leads to arrest
A 28-year-old Avon Lake man was arrested Aug. 21 for driving on a suspended license after police stopped the car he was driving on Lake Road at 9:06 p.m. because of a license plate lighting violation. A records check showed the suspended license, police said.
Insurance, license needed
A 34-year-old Atwater, Ohio man was cited Aug. 23 for not having insurance and driving on a suspended license after police stopped the car he was driving on Miller Road at 9:51 a.m. because a registration check showed the suspended license, police said.
No license; expired plates
A 38-year-old Avon Lake woman was cited Aug. 24 for driving without a license and having expired license plates after police stopped the car she was driving on Ryeberry Lane at 10:04 a.m. for the expired plates.
Wanted man arrested
A 35-year-old Avon Lake man wanted by Westlake police for not going to court for traffic offenses was stopped by Avon Lake officers on Belle Road at 1:24 a.m. Aug. 24 after a registration check revealed a suspended driver’s license and the warrant from Westlake. The man was turned over to Westlake officers.
Crash leads to arrest
A 21-year-old North Olmsted man was arrested Aug. 25 for driving under the influence and taken to the Avon Hospital at the Richard E. Jacobs Campus for treatment after a resident near the Moorewood Avenue-Walker Road intersection heard a crash at 2:16 a.m. Responding police said they found the driver in a car that had struck a tree. There were no passengers in the car.
DUI, drug arrest
A 65-year-old Avon Lake man was arrested Aug, 25 for driving under the influence, possession of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and traffic offenses after police investigated a 4:39 p.m. accident on Walker Road. The man was treated at the scene for injuries, police said.
Gun discharge arrest
A 37-year-old Avon Lake man was arrested Aug. 25 for shooting a gun near homes on Halle Court after his gun went off while he was checking it at 4 p.m., police said. A bullet went through his patio door and struck his neighbor’s door frame and glass door. No injuries were reported.
A Drummond Drive woman said Aug. 25 her bicycle was stolen from her closed garage between 11 p.m. Aug. 24 and 8 a.m. Aug. 25.
A 24-year-old Lakewood man was arrested at 1:12 a.m. Aug. 24 for driving under the influence after police stopped the car he was driving on Lake Road for being driven erratically. He was arrested after failing field sobriety tests.
Five Bay Village teens were warned to behave themselves and then turned over to their parents after police checked a 7:21 p.m. Aug. 24 call about a white Jeep being driven erratically on Normandy Road with one passenger hanging outside it. When police found the Jeep, the juveniles were not doing anything. Police warned the 17-year-old driver and four passengers — three 16-year olds and one 15-year-old — and called their parents to get them and the Jeep. No citations were issued.
Suspicious driver likes neighborhood
Police checking several complaints around 10:45 a.m. Aug. 26 about a suspicious car driving slowly around Lake Forest Drive and Cahoon and Lincoln roads found an Elyria man who said he likes to drive around nice cities and their neighborhoods because they look better than Elyria. Police told him of the complaints.
A 24-year-old Avon man was arrested about 1 a.m. Aug. 26 for drunk driving after police stopped the car he was driving on Clague Road for being driven erratically. He was arrested after failing field sobriety tests.

Man cited for alcohol
A man was cited July 25 for possession of alcohol after being seen by an officer. No other information was released about the incident.
A man found his car had been stolen the afternoon of July 16 after discovering his key had fallen out of his pocket. No other information was released about the incident.
A man was arrested July 16 for drunk driving and possession of marijuana after failing field sobriety tests. He also was cited for driving without a license and having a loud muffler and exhaust. Police stopped the car because of the noise. No other information was released about the incident.
A man was arrested July 17 for possession of drugs and related incidents after someone complained about a man in the bathroom using drugs.
Two arrested for firearm, drugs
One man was arrested July 18 for improper handling of a firearm and another was arrested for possession of drugs after police checked a report of a man with a gun near the Edgewater boat ramps. No other information was released about the incident.
Driver arrested; passenger cited
A man was arrested July 22 for drunk driving and driving without a license after police stopped his car for being driven erratically. A passenger was cited for having drug paraphernalia. No other information was released about the incident.
A man was arrested July 27 for driving under the influence and possession of drugs after police stopped him for not having proper license plates. No other information was released about the incident.
Swerving leads to arrest
A man was arrested July 30 for drunk driving and cited for not staying in marked lanes after police stopped the car he was driving for swerving on the roadway. No other information was released about the incident.
A patron reported his car was hit by a vehicle in the parking lot July 20 and the other driver left without providing any information. No other information was released about the incident.
ROCKY RIVER RESERVATION
A man found his personal trailer had been stolen from the marina between July 11 and July 17. It contained a power washer, dock cart, several hoses and ladders. No other information was released about the incident.
Accident at Mastick Road Hill
A man was cited July 17 for not maintaining an assured clear distance ahead and driving without a license after his car hit another from behind at Valley Parkway and Mastick Road Hill, police said. No injuries were reported.
A bicycle rider was treated at Fairview Hospital July 21 after he fell while riding on Valley Parkway near Cedar Point Road.
A man declined treatment after he said a dog bit him at the top of the Fort Hill stairs July 21.
An SUV was towed from the big Cedar Point Picnic Area July 21 and declared abandoned after having been left there for more than a week.
A man who passed out while golfing at Mastick Woods July 25 was treated at Fairview Hospital.
Stolen car recovered
A car reported stolen the night of July 27 from Emerald Necklace Parkway was recovered off Golfview Drive across from West 189th Street.
Parking lot accident
A car parked by the Cottonwood Picnic Area July 29 had minor damage after it was hit in the rear bumper by a car entering the lot, police said.
A woman was arrested for driving under the influence July 30 after police stopped the car she was driving because it was going over marked lanes. No other information was released about the incident.
Thieves flee from officers
Police chased a man and a woman who Kohl’s security said took about $2,300 in merchandise at 2:22 p.m. Aug. 23. The couple drove off and an officer spotted the car getting onto Interstate 90 eastbound. The driver refused to stop and sped away when a cruiser approached, police said. An officer ended the brief pursuit because the car was being driven in an erratic manner, police said.
Stop leads to arrest
Police checking a report of a fight at 2:37 a.m. Aug. 24 near West 228th Street and Lorain Road saw a car go left of center on Lorain. They stopped the car as it headed west into North Olmsted. Officers could not tell if the 22-year-old Cleveland woman driving or her 21-year-old female passenger were involved in the fight. But they cited the driver for a traffic violation and found the passenger was wanted by Brunswick police for traffic violations. Police arrested her and turned her over to Brunswick police.
Disorderly conduct arrest
A 29-year-old Fairview Park man was arrested at 2:57 a.m. Aug. 25 for disorderly conduct while intoxicated after police checked reports of a belligerent man yelling at two women near West 210th Street. Police found a man matching the description lying on the steps of a Westwood Avenue home and covered in vomit. He told police he was walking home after drinking in the Flats and only wanted to sleep. Police said he was slurring his speech and unsteady on his feet and vomited in the police car.
A man told police at 1: 26 p.m. Aug. 22 that his car had been stolen from the 11800 block of Madison Avenue. He had parked it there that morning.
A 32-year-old Cleveland man was arrested at 12:56 a.m. Aug. 23 for driving under the influence after police stopped the car he was driving on Madison Avenue for being driven erratically.
Workers at Geiger’s Sporting Goods on Detroit Avenue said a woman took a pair of shoes Aug. 23 and left the area in a car before she could be stopped.
Theft from car
A Northland Avenue woman said at 10 a.m. Aug. 24 someone took sunglasses and other items from her car while it was parked at her home overnight.
Debit card used illegally
A Madison Avenue woman found out on Aug. 25 that someone had taken $27 in cash and her debit card from her home the previous day, then used the card to charge $316 in groceries at area stores.
Someone threw rocks and broke two windows on Aug. 25 at a home in the 11900 block of Franklin Boulevard. A man described as apparently intoxicated was seen in the area around that time, but police did not find anybody.
Police checked complaints at 3:17 a.m. Aug. 26 about a fight in a Detroit Avenue home. Police found a man and woman who said they had settled their dispute. Officers told them about the complaints and advised them to stay under control.
A 47-year-old Westlake woman was arrested Aug. 20 for drunk driving after police stopped the car she was driving at 2:43 a.m. for not having a headlight working and for weaving on the road. She was arrested after failing field sobriety tests.
Drug, traffic arrest
A 27-year-old Cleveland man was arrested Aug. 21 for drug and traffic offenses after police stopped the car he was driving on Interstate 480 for doing 85 mph in a 60 mph zone at 9:03 p.m. The man initially gave police a phony name and also told them he was driving fast because he wanted to get home before his battery died. Police said they found two small bags of marijuana in his pockets. A records check also showed the man’s driver’s license was suspended.
A 24-year-old Fairview Park man was arrested Aug. 23 for drunk driving, not staying in lanes and related offenses after police stopped the car he was driving on Columbia Road at 1:51 a.m. He was arrested after failing field sobriety tests. A passenger drove the car home.
Cut and run
A 36-year-old North Olmsted man was arrested Aug. 14 for theft after he did not pay for his haircut at Lady Jane’s Haircuts for Men on Brookpark Road. A staff member said he left in a car at 2:45 p.m. and didn’t return to pay for his haircut after saying he would. She gave police his license plate number that afternoon when he didn’t return. Officers found him at his home and arrested him when he tried to run, police said.
A 38-year-old Parma Heights woman was arrested Aug. 20 for drunk driving after police stopped the car she was driving on Avon-Belden Road at 4:04 a.m. for driving erratically.
Two arrested for trespassing
A 40-year-old North Ridgeville man and a 23-year-old Seven Hills man were arrested Aug. 21 for trespassing after police checked a 7:54 a.m. call from a man who said two men were entering his Avon-Belden Road home.
A North Ridgeville man said Aug. 22 someone got his cell phone number and withdrew an undisclosed amount of money from his bank account.
Domestic violence arrest
A 31-year-old North Ridgeville man was arrested Aug. 22 for domestic violence after threatening his girlfriend and assaulting her, police said.
Theft, traffic arrest
A 30-year-old Parma man was arrested Aug. 26 for taking a cell phone charger from the Sheetz on Lorain Road at 8:08 p.m. A check after his car was stopped showed his driver’s license was suspended, prompting another charge.
A 45-year-old Cleveland man was arrested Aug. 24 for drunk driving after police checked a 7:53 a.m. report of loud music coming from a car on Forest Park Drive. The driver was arrested after failing field sobriety tests.
UPS package stolen
A Middlepost Lane woman said that on. Aug. 21 that a UPS package with a computer in it was taken from her home during the day. UPS had told the woman the package was delivered, but it wasn’t there when she got home.
Estate sale theft
A woman said at noon Aug. 22 that her wallet was stolen from a Northview Road home during an estate sale that day.
A customer at the Fitworks on Center Ridge Road reported at 7:35 p.m. Aug. 23 about $200 was taken from his wallet when someone cut the lock off his locker.
A 52-year-old Sheffield Lake man was arrested Aug. 18 for drunk driving after police checked an 8:10 p.m. call of a possible drunk driver on a motorcycle coming into the Speedway on Abbe Road. The man was arrested after failing field sobriety tests.
Crossing line prompts arrest
A 32-year-old Lorain man was arrested Aug. 20 for driving under the influence after his car crossed the center line on East River Road at 8:10 p.m. and almost hit another car, police said. The man told police he had taken a pill earlier.
A 19-year-old Warren man was arrested at 10:35 a.m. Aug. 21 for drug-related offenses after an officer stopped the car he was driving on Interstate 90 for a traffic offense. The officer noted potential drug-related activity in the car. A search found several pounds of marijuana and drug-related materials, police said.
