Impaired driver arrested
A 51-year-old Vermilion woman was arrested at 5:33 p.m. Aug. 27 for not maintaining control of her car after police checked a report of an impaired driver on Just Imagine Drive. Officers said they saw the car when it was going into the parking lot of the Residence Inn by Marriott.
Brother-sister dispute investigated
Police investigated a Aug. 28 report of a disagreement between a brother and sister on Stoney Ridge Road. No injuries were reported.
Woman found passed out on sidewalk
A 53-year-old Avon woman was issued a summons for disorderly conduct while intoxicated at 12:21 a.m. Aug. 29 after police found her passed out on the sidewalk in the 1500 block of Rosewood Boulevard after receiving a report.
A 44-year-old Lorain woman was arrested for drunk driving at 9:06 p.m. Aug. 30 after police stopped a car being driven erratically on Grove Avenue.
Suspicious-person report checked
Police checked an 8 a.m. Aug. 28 report of a suspicious-acting woman walking around a yard in the 32900 block of Lake Road. Officers were unable to locate her.
Window damage investigated
Police investigated an Aug. 28 report of a broken window at a Fairfield Road home.
A woman whose mother is at the Sprenger Health Care Center reported Aug. 28 that an undisclosed amount of cash was missing from her mother’s room.
Wanted man arrested
A 43-year-old Avon Lake man wanted for not showing for an Avon Lake Municipal Court appearance was arrested at 5:21 p.m. Aug. 29 after an officer saw him walking through the Giant Eagle parking lot on Walker Road.
Neighbor foils phone scam
A 74-year-old woman avoided a phone scam on Aug. 29 that nearly cost her $5,000. The woman received a call that day from a man who claimed to be from the IRS and told her there was an arrest warrant for her in Texas. The man said she could get the warrant taken care of by buying gift cards. The woman bought $5,000 worth of cards before a neighbor learned what she was doing, stopped her and called police.
A Fairport Drive man was treated at the Richard E. Jacobs Health Center in Avon Aug. 29 after police checked a report of a possible overdose at his home.
Under the influence
A 37-year-old Westlake man was arrested at 5:34 p.m. Aug. 30 for driving under the influence and related traffic violations after police investigated a report of a reckless driver on Electric Boulevard.
Tracks across lawn
Police checked a 6:45 p.m. Aug. 28 report of a landscaper’s equipment leaving tracks across an Osborn Road home’s yard, upsetting the homeowner. The landscaper was working on a neighbor’s yard. That neighbor said it was OK for the landscaper to go over into the other Osborn Road home’s yard.
A 46-year-old Bay Village man was arrested Aug. 31 after police checked a 2:14 a.m. report of a man sleeping in a parked car with its engine running near the front entrance of St. Raphael Catholic Church on Dover Center Road. The man spoke unintelligibly and was arrested after failing field sobriety tests.
No place for a nap
A 43-year-old Westlake woman was arrested at 4:43 a.m. Aug. 28 for disorderly conduct while intoxicated after police checked a report of a possibly intoxicated woman sleeping in the Fairview Village Apartments laundry room. Police said she was visiting a male friend in the apartment complex. They noted two half-full cans of beer were near her.
Trio arrested for theft at Kohl’s
Three Lorain men, ages 37, 39 and 40, were arrested at 3:42 p.m. Aug. 28 for theft, drug possession and related offenses. Police investigated a report of two men taking sports clothing from Kohl’s, then leaving with another man in a car. One man was in a wheelchair in the store, security said. Police said they stopped a car on West 210th Street and found assorted stolen items, pliers apparently used to remove clothing sensors and drug-related items.
Man on sidewalk cited
A 46-year-old Cleveland man was cited Aug. 29 for disorderly conduct while intoxicated after police found him lying on the sidewalk in the 19000 block of Lorain Road.
Hand tools stolen
A resident at the Old Orchard Condominiums said Sept. 1 someone took hand tools from a detached garage sometime during the previous three weeks.
A Wyandotte Avenue woman said Aug. 30 someone had damaged her window the previous night with BB gun pellets.
Gun stolen from car
A Northland Avenue man said Aug. 31 a handgun was stolen from his car sometime during the previous few days.
A Detroit Avenue man said Aug. 31 someone took his car while it was parked near his home during the day.
Trespasser arrested at Walgreens
A 58-year-old Lakewood man was arrested Sept. 1 for trespassing after Walgreens staff said he was causing a disturbance at 12:45 a.m.
An Elbur Avenue man said tools were taken from his home between 6 p.m. Aug. 30 and noon Sept. 1.
Police are investigating a woman’s report of being assaulted at her home in the 15600 block of Madison Avenue at 2 a.m. Sept. 2. She was treated for minor injuries.
A Lakewood man said his car was hit by another car while parked in the 15500 block of Clifton Boulevard Sept. 2.
Theft from car
A Lark Street woman reported Sept. 3 that her purse and small items were stolen from her car sometime during the early morning while parked near her home.
Woman arrested for Walmart theft
A 39-year-old North Olmsted woman was arrested Aug. 27 for taking $140 in beauty and aromatherapy products from Walmart the previous day. Security tried to stop her, but she drove off. Police arrested her the next day in a Lorain Road parking lot after using license plate information to identify her.
Passed out at license bureau
A 50-year-old North Olmsted man was arrested Aug. 26 for disorderly conduct while intoxicated after passing out inside the Ohio License Bureau on Brookpark Extension at 3:50 p.m. Paramedics called police because the man seemed intoxicated. Officers said he was disorderly and argumentative.
Woman arrested for theft at Target
A 52-year-old North Olmsted woman was arrested Aug. 28 for theft after Target security said she tried to take women’s clothing and accessories from the store.
Drunk-driving arrest at fire station
A 42-year-old Huron man was arrested Aug. 29 for drunk driving after police received a report of an intoxicated man at Fire Station 2 in the 29000 block of Lorain Road. Police arrived at 2:09 a.m. The man told firefighters that he had made a mistake and was drunk. His car was parked in the station’s main drive. He was arrested after failing field sobriety tests.
Deep fryer stolen
Staff at Bullfrog’s Sports Café on Center Ridge Road said a man in a pickup truck picked up a deep fryer that staff had put behind the business and drove off at noon Aug. 15. Workers said they told the man the fryer was not junk, but he drove off anyway.
A 30-year-old North Ridgeville woman was arrested at 10:42 p.m. Aug. 25 for drunk driving after police stopped a car being driven erratically on Behm Road.
Cracked mirror on cruiser
An officer preparing to go to work Aug. 26 saw that the side mirror on his cruiser parked in the Avon Belden Road lot had been cracked during the day.
A 51-year-old North Ridgeville woman was arrested at 10:50 p.m. Aug. 27 for driving under the influence after police stopped a car being driven erratically on Mills Road.
Gotta pay the cabbie
A 27-year-old man with no listed address was arrested Aug. 29 for theft after a cab driver dropped him off at Sheetz in the 33000 block of Lorain Road and he tried to run away without paying.
Man treated for overdose
A 33-year-old Cleveland man was treated at St. John Medical Center in Westlake after police responded to a 7:18 p.m. Aug. 29 report of an overdose at a Cornell Avenue home.
Drug paraphernalia found
A 34-year-old Strongsville man was cited at 1:19 p.m. Aug. 30 for possession of drug paraphernalia after police checked a car which in the Sheetz parking lot on Lorain Road after getting reports it was being driven erratically.
Unconscious man found, arrested
A 64-year-old Cleveland man was arrested at 9:52 p.m. Aug. 30 for driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia after police checked a report of a possibly impaired driver in the McDonald’s parking lot in the 32000 block of Lorain Road.
Driver arrested after going over embankment
An 80-year-old Montgomery, Alabama, man was arrested at 12:07 a.m. Aug. 31 for drunk driving and failure to control after police checked a report of a car going over an embankment on Alternate 83. No injuries were reported.
A 28-year-old Oberlin man was arrested for menacing and domestic violence at 9:52 p.m. Sept. 1 after police checked a report of a man threatening two people in the Sheetz parking lot. The Oberlin man was treated at University Hospitals North Ridgeville Health Center.
Drug abuse arrest
A 21-year-old North Ridgeville man was arrested Aug. 31 for drug abuse after police checked a report of a suspicious man in the Colonial Manor Apartments parking area.
Credit card fraud
A North Ridgeville woman said Aug. 22 someone had made unauthorized charges on her credit card in the previous three weeks.
Driver cited for passing school bus
A 19-year-old North Ridgeville woman was cited Aug. 30 for passing a stopped school bus on Center Ridge Road at 7:30 a.m. the previous day.
A 30-year-old Sheffield Village woman was arrested at 11:49 p.m. Aug. 30 for assault after police checked a report of a woman hitting a man while they were in a car on Pin Oak Circle. No major injuries were reported.
Suspicious man arrested
A 25-year-old Lorain man was arrested at 2:20 a.m. Aug. 31 for alcohol-related offenses and obstruction after police checked a report of a suspicious man walking on Colorado Avenue. Police said the man was uncooperative and argumentative.
Disorderly at Drug Mart
A 62-year-old Fairview Park man was cited for disorderly conduct while intoxicated Aug. 27 after Discount Drug Mart workers said he staggered around the store at 8 p.m., then wandered into the employee break room and sat down.
Uber passengers arrested
Three Uber passengers were arrested at 3 a.m. Sept. 1 and a fourth ran off after an Uber driver reported problems with four male passengers in the area of Columbia and Center Ridge roads. The driver called police after the men began arguing with her and asking to do drugs. Two of them tried to take the steering wheel from her. A 20-year Elyria man was arrested for underage drinking, a 21-year-old Olmsted Falls man was arrested for assault and a 20-year-old Westlake man was arrested for assault and underage drinking.
Drug, traffic stop
A 33-year-old Cleveland woman was arrested at 7 p.m. Sept. 2 for possession of drugs and a theft warrant from Parma and the driver of the car she was riding in was arrested for driving without a license after police stopped the car on Interstate 90.
Cars entered, change stolen
Four unlocked cars in the Allen Drive area were found to have been entered around 2 a.m. Sept. 3 after a resident called police and said he saw three people running in the neighborhood. An officer checking the area 20 minutes later saw a silver SUV with out-of-state plates take off at 100 mph when the driver saw the officer.
