Tools taken

Walmart workers reported at 9:06 p.m. July 11 that $263 in tools were stolen and that they saw a male and female suspect leaving in a station wagon.The tools were found a few minutes later on Chester Road, dispatchers were told. But the pair fled in the station wagon before officers arrived.

Drug, traffic arrest

A 25-year-old Lorain man was arrested for possession of marijuana and driving on a suspended license July 11 shortly after police stopped the car he was driving on Colorado Avenue at 9:22 p.m. The car was initially stopped because a records check showed the car’s owner had a suspended license. The marijuana was seen when officers spoke to the driver, police said.

Credit cards stolen

A Nagel Road woman said July 12 someone took six credit cards while she was working at the Wear It Again consignment shop on Detroit Road during the day.

Drunk-driving arrest

A 56-year-old Lorain man was arrested July 14 for drunk driving after police stopped the car he was driving on Colorado Avenue for running a red light at 2:45 a.m., officers said.

Attempted fraud

A 71-year-old Avon woman said July 15 someone got her personal information and tried to take money from her bank accounts sometime during the previous few days. The attempt was stopped by the bank.

AVON LAKE

Passed-out teen found on porch

A 16-year-old Avon Lake boy was arrested July 4 for disorderly conduct while intoxicated and trespassing after a Parson Court woman found him lying on her back porch at 7:31 a.m.

Phone fraud

A 33-year-old Royal Oak, Michigan, woman told police July 4 someone got her old phone account suspended and service moved to a different carrier sometime during the previous few days.

Domestic fight investigated

A Long Point Drive woman reported at 12:23 p.m. July 6 a fight with her husband at their home earlier that day. No injuries were reported.

Drunk-driving arrest

A 43-year-old Avon Lake woman was arrested July 9 for drunk driving, having an open container and speeding after police said they stopped the car she was driving on Lake Road for speeding.

Driving on suspended license

A 24-year-old Avon Lake woman was arrested July 10 for driving on a suspended license and not having a rear license plate light after police stopped the car she was driving on Moore Road at 12:15 a.m.

Drug, traffic arrest

A 20-year-old Avon Lake man was arrested July 12 for possession of marijuana, driving on a suspended license and not having a rear license plate light. The marijuana was found when officers approached the car, police said.

Domestic violence arrest

A 36-year-old Avon Lake woman was arrested July 14 for domestic violence and disorderly conduct after police checked a 2:28 a.m. call about a woman breaking down the door to the room her husband had locked himself in.

BAY VILLAGE

All-Star Game ticket scam

A Bay Village man told police July 9 he was the victim of a ticket scam for the MLB baseball All-Star Game held at Progressive Field that night. The man said he saw three tickets advertised for a good price on Craigslist and sent $150 via an online app but never received the tickets.

Under the influence arrest

A 48-year-old Avon Lake man was arrested July 11 after police stopped the car he was driving on Bradley Road at 11:27 a.m. for a moving traffic violation. He was arrested after failing field sobriety tests. Police said they found pills in the car and a breath test showed alcohol in his system.

Drunk-driving arrest

A 50-year-old Sagamore Hills man was arrested July 12 for drunk driving after police stopped the car he was driving erratically on Dover Center Road at 1:47 a.m. He was arrested after failing field sobriety tests.

Argument leads to arrests

A 41-year-old Lakewood woman and 33-year-old Lakewood man were arrested July 13 for disorderly conduct while intoxicated after police checked a 9:47 p.m. report of a man and woman in a dispute in the 600 block of Dover Center Road.

FAIRVIEW PARK

Tools taken from van

About $940 in tools were taken from a van in the Savers parking lot on Center Ridge Road July 8 after someone broke out a van window about 6:10 p.m. A witness called police, who responded but were told the culprit fled when he saw he was being watched.

Woman arrested for clothes theft

A 23-year-old Cleveland woman was arrested July 11 for theft shortly after Kohl’s security called police at 3:33 p.m. and said three women drove off in a car from Westgate shopping center after taking $65 in clothing. Police stopped the car on West 210th Street a few minutes later and arrested the woman after she said she took the clothing.

Trio arrested for disorderly conduct

Two men, both 28, and a woman, 26, all Fairview Park residents, were arrested at 3 a.m. July 12 for disorderly conduct while intoxicated after a patrol officer saw several people arguing in front of Reggie’s Saloon on Lorain Road. The argument erupted when one man objected to the other man talking to the woman because she is his sister.

LAKEWOOD

Threat investigated

Police are investigating a July 11 report that a Cook Avenue woman was threatened that morning via a Snapchat message.

Couple’s fight stopped

A fight between a man and woman at 12:35 a.m. July 12 on Chesterland Avenue was stopped. No injuries were reported and police said the dispute was about personal matters.

No brawl found

Police checking a 12:54 p.m. July 14 report of two groups of people fighting in the 18600 block of Detroit Avenue found the combatants had left after police were called.

Car stolen

An Athens Avenue man reported at 8:31 a.m. July 13 that someone stole his Ford F-150 while it was parked by his home overnight.

Clothing stolen

Workers at the Lion and Blue on Detroit Avenue said July 13 that $40 in clothing was stolen sometime during the day.

Theft from home

About $350 in jewelry was taken from a Donald Avenue home during the day July 13.

Graffiti on equipment

Some children’s playground equipment on Merl Avenue had graffiti written on it in black marker overnight July 14.

Meter damaged

A parking meter in the 12000 block of Lake Avenue was damaged sometime during the morning of July 15.

Fight broken up

A fight between two men in the 13600 block of Detroit Avenue was stopped at 10:57 a.m. July 15. Officers had responded to a call of a man threatening to shoot people. No weapon was found.

NORTH OLMSTED

Two arrested after fight

Two Cleveland men, 66 and 32, were arrested July 9 for disorderly conduct after police investigated a 3:04 p.m. fight outside Walmart. Police said the two got into a disagreement when the younger man was almost hit when he ran in front of the older man’s car. He put his hands down on the car’s hood, causing the older man to brake suddenly. The younger man said he had left the store quickly because his dog was in his car. Police said punches were exchanged and one man got a baseball bat from his car, but did not wield it. No injuries were reported.

Open container

A 46-year-old North Ridgeville man was cited July 10 for having an open container of alcohol after he was stopped in a Lorain Road parking lot near Andy’s Auto Wash and Detailing. People at Andy’s Auto Wash and Detailing had seen the man with the container while he was at that business around 7:30 p.m. He was cited after police gave him field sobriety tests and determined he was not intoxicated. He was told to pour out the alcohol, which he did, police said.

Man arrested for disorderly conduct

A 26-year-old North Olmsted man was arrested July 13 for disorderly conduct while intoxicated after Chili’s workers told police he was trying to pick fights with other workers when they went out to the parking lot. Police found the man crouching behind a parked car at 1:05 a.m. He was arrested after police spoke with him. A records check showed he was wanted by Bay Village police for a probation violation, so he was turned over to Bay Village officers after North Olmsted finished its arrest.

Theft, traffic arrest

A 24-year-old Lorain woman was arrested July 13 for theft, parking in a handicapped spot and driving on a suspended license after Walmart security said she took $281 in assorted items at 1:13 p.m. Police found her car in a handicapped parking spot with no handicapped placard and that her license had been suspended.

Drunk-driving arrest

A 23-year-old Strongsville woman was arrested July 13 for drunk driving, hit-skip and related offenses after police stopped her car at 12:51 a.m. on Lorain Road. Police were checking the area after a call about an accident, with one car leaving its bumper then driving off.

Speeding leads to arrest

A 30-year-old North Olmsted man was arrested July 14 for drunk driving, speeding, having an open container and related offenses after police stopped the car he was driving on David Drive at 9:52 a.m. An officer said he saw the car going 50 mph in a 25 mph zone and swerving on nearby streets before being stopped.

NORTH RIDGEVILLE

Window broken at church

Staff at the Shepherd of the Ridge Lutheran Church on Center Ridge Road found a broken window at the church at 8 p.m. July 10.

Disorderly-conduct arrest

A Harris Drive man was arrested July 11 for disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia after police checked a 9:44 p.m. report of a disturbance at his home.

Speeding prompts arrest

A 21-year-old Amherst man was arrested July 11 for drug possession and having an open container after police initially stopped the car he was driving for speeding on Mills Road at 2:03 a.m.

Bank card used

A North Ridgeville woman said July 16 someone had used her bank card information in Columbus in the previous few days even though she had the card.

Mother’s information used

A North Ridgeville man said July 18 someone used his mother’s personal information to get more than $500 from her PNC Bank account sometime during the previous few weeks.

Under-the-influence arrest

A 32-year-old Cleveland woman was arrested July 14 for driving under the influence and failure to control after a 12:21 a.m. report of a rollover crash in the 5000 block of Stoney Ridge Road. No injuries were reported.

Drug, traffic arrest

A 24-year-old Lorain man was arrested July 14 for possession of marijuana and driving on a suspended license after police initially stopped the car he was driving on State Route 83 at 9:09 p.m. for speeding.

ROCKY RIVER

Assault suspect arrested

A 38-year-old Bedford man was arrested for felonious assault July 18 after police got a phone call at 7:48 p.m. from a Rocky River Oval resident who said a neighbor had been assaulted. The victim told police that John A. Boyd, with whom she had a prior relationship, was in her home with a handgun when she got home. They got into a struggle and she fled to the neighbor’s home. She was treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Boyd left the area in the woman’s car, before crashing it on Interstate 90 between the Warren Road and West 117th Street exits. He attempted to run away, but was caught, police said. A gun was found in the car, police said.

SHEFFIELD VILLAGE

Harassment follows eBay sale

A Sheffield Village man said he was being harassed by a Michigan man who had bought a Grail Diary replica prop from him on eBay for $235 in early July. Police said July 10 the Michigan man claimed the prop was fake and that he wanted his money back. The Sheffield Village man said he refused to give him a refund, so the Michigan man began sending messages threatening him and his family, police said. Police said the Michigan man was also aggressive with an officer who was called to investigate the complaint.

WESTLAKE

Two arrested for drugs

A 38-year-old Amherst man was arrested July 12 for drug possession and a 32-year-old Geneva woman was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia after police stopped a car leaving the Red Roof Inn parking lot for a traffic violation. Police said after seeing them, they suspected drug use and a check of the car showed assorted drug-related items.

Clothing theft

Eddie Bauer in Crocker Park reported July 13 $700 in shorts and shirts were stolen about 7:50 p.m. Workers suspected the thief was a black male, who was wearing navy blue shorts with white trim and left carrying a large bag from another clothing store.He was seen walking toward Main Street.

Under-the-influence arrest

A 27-year-old North Olmsted man was arrested July 14 shortly after a 3 a.m. report of a Honda driver being passed out in the Taco Bell drive-through. Police said they found the car leaving the restaurant, with the driver appearing intoxicated and having his belt undone. He told officers the belt was undone for comfort. He was arrested after failing field sobriety tests.

Obscenity arrest

A 33-year-old Akron man was arrested July 14 for pandering obscenity involving a minor after police said they found he had exchanged inappropriate photos with a minor. The arrest stemmed from police stopping the car the man was driving on Interstate 90 at 7:22 p.m. for a traffic violation. Officers said when questioned about what he was doing with the man, a 17-year-old boy in the car told them that he and the man were in a relationship. Police found the two had met online. The teenager was turned over to his mother at the police station.

Disturbance prompts arrest

A 30-year-old Sheffield Lake man was arrested July 15 after police checked a 6 p.m. report of items being thrown around a Super 8 Motel room. Police said the man was leaving the room when they arrived. A check showed he was wanted by Cleveland police for not showing up for a court appearance. He was turned over to Cleveland officers.
