School board members sworn in
At the school board’s organizational meeting on Jan. 11, members Scott Swartz and Jean Rounds were sworn in to their new terms. Rounds received the oath of office from her brother, Vermilion Municipal Court Judge Zack Dolyk.
Also sworn in, by Treasurer Greg Marcus, were new board President Kathy Goepfert and Vice President Jon Fancher.
Rocky River resident Don Paparella has been named general manager of the Mercedes-Benz and Sprinter Pre-Owned Center in North Olmsted. His responsibilities will include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the center, including customer service. The center is part of the Collection Auto Group, a privately owned business composed of multiple dealerships and an on-site performance center.
Rocky River kindergarten information night will be held at 6 p.m. March 1 at Goldwood Primary School. Information packets regarding registration will be distributed at that time.
Taste of the tropics
Rocky River High School PTA is holding its annual fruit sale. Grapefruit and navel oranges are among the tasty treats being offered. Proceeds go to the PTA for projects and to fund $250 minigrants, to be used by students for funding projects for clubs, teams and classes. Visit www.rrcs.org for more information.
Magnificat High School students raised more than $7,500 in cash and gift cards during the annual Humble Hands Advent Project in December. They also collected hundreds of household and clothing items. The donations will benefit organizations in Cleveland such as St. Rocco and Our Lady of Mount Carmel grade schools, the Westside Catholic Center, the Domestic Violence Center and the Berea Animal Rescue and Northeast Ohio ASPCA. Items will also be sent to assist organizations in Appalachia.
